Grab a Glass and Settle In

Our Landlady Catherine is properly passionate about wine.

From the icy cold Minuty Côtes de Provence Rosé (her personal fave) to a properly peach-y Pinot Gris, the deepest darkest Malbecs – oh, and she’s bonkers about bubbles too.

Read on for some of her tasting notes (plus a few fun facts) to accompany our impossibly generous wine list.

Finca La Colonia Malbec

Super jammy, smooth-as-silk and deep red in colour, this cockle-warming wine is absolutely spot-on for giving you that glow in your cheeks.

Give it a whiff and you’ll get ripe red fruit, cassis and black pepper. Take a sip and you’ll get all of that and a cheeky-hint of spice too.

This wine goes great with gravy, so perfect with a steak, or that epic Sunday roast.

Conde Valdemar Rioja Reserva

Pudding spice and all things nice with this oaked Rioja.

Complex aromas with all those scrumptiously-subtle spicy notes and ripe
black fruit touches, take you on a journey to an intense mouthful. Plums, raisins and (what’s this we taste) a touch of dark chocolate.

This wine is black-as-your-hat and an absolute full-on faceful.

Minuty Côtes de Provence Rosé

A beautiful pale pink colour (think ballet slipper pink, rather than neon) this wine is landlady Catherine’s absolute favourite.

with aromas of redcurrants giving way to fresh, yet well-rounded palate offering delicate flavours of peaches and candied orange peel.

Minuty’s wines are a fixture on wine lists of some of the swankiest French Riviera’s finest restaurants – so you know it’s good stuff.

Wild Spell Pinot Gris

Did you know that Pinot Gris is more commonly known as Pinot Grigio? Well, now you do.

Get your nose in the glass and you’ll detect grapefruit and lemon. Time to taste. You’ll get punchy peach to start, which tapers off to leave a zesty lime. So, it’s not just a pretty bottle (though it is very good-looking)

Muré Riesling

Ooh, this is another of our wines that pairs perfectly with a Sunday roast. This aromatic beauty is a big-hit for wine-lovers, as it’s a great food wine – best with our scrumptious roast chicken (and piles of roasties, of course.)

A quick sniff will gift you aromas of fruit and a single sip gives you all those exotic fruit flavours (think pineapple) with a satisfying streak of lime-y citrus-ness.

The Muré family have been making wine in Alsace, France since 1648 and is now in it’s 11th generation – so, it’s fair to say that they know what they’re doing when it comes to wine.

Nyetimber Sparkling

Handily located in the gorgeous countryside of the South of England lies Nyetimber.

Using their estate-grown grapes, they make award-winning wines that are sipped, toasted and tasted all around the globe. Their Classic Cuvee is ideal for any cheers-worthy occasion (but also blooming marvellous with a tradiitonal fish & chips) so be sure to treat yourself next time you’re here.
